The Bay of Islands on the North Island of New Zealand is one of the worlds beautiful places. It is also the location of the earliest settlement of the Maori people. The arrival of the Maori in their wonderful canoes called “Wakas” was the inspiration for this house perched along its own peninsula jutting out into the bay. Spectacular views and lush semi-tropical vegetation caress this place of repose and harmony. The house is respectfully named “Waka” in appreciation of the ancestral Maoris.
