Situated on Bowen Island, BC, this home reflects the dreams and emotions of its owners. Cultured and well traveled, the couple wanted a home that evoked memories of the Orient through a sense of tranquility and harmony with the Island site.
The architectural design evolves from the Shinto notion of an unfolding sequence of vignettes, as one experiences the approach to and through the building. Trellis-like, the house denotes a wall dividing the land and sea, as well as a spiritual gateway between the two.
